I must admit I have never been a fan of vintage until recently. The thought of an item of clothing or an accessory worn by someone before took away that excitement of bringing home shiny brand new packaged purchase. Trends come back in fashion as unexpectedly as they go out of it and it is just not possible to keep all the stuff we buy forever. Unless you are a major hoarder. I’m not. I part with things as easily as I buy them. I love to shop and I also love to give away or sell my pre loved goodies that I know I won’t wear anymore. One woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure isn’t it what they say? And since I try to invest into good quality classic statement pieces I find it very easy to “get rid” of them.
Not that long ago I decided to explore the world of vintage and right now I’m obsessed. You get a unique piece that you most likely not going to see anyone else wearing without breaking the bank. Unless it’s vintage Chanel or Hermes of course! The price tag is not much different from brand new items. Hunting down unique vintage pieces can also be quite fun and rewarding.
So far I have found a great pair of clip ons which I featured couple of posts back and this amazing Kenneth Jay Lane necklace. It does look very similar to Chanel Maltese cross and I get asked that a lot whenever I wear it. It’s a great statement necklace to really dress up a plain outfit. In this case it’s an all black with a pop of lime green however I can also see it worn with a crispy classic white shirt or a plunging neck top in almost any color.
The necklace is not the only part of this outfit I’m very excited about. Scanlan and Theodore skirt with a mesh layer over the top is my current favorite. Not kidding I’ve been wearing it every weekend since I bought it a couple of months ago. I love it!!! It can be styled so differently every time. And of course these pointy Jimmy Choo shoes that have unusual texture made up of mesh and shiny snake skin.
